In this video, John and I head out to Great Barrier Island, which is considered a "milestone sail" for new beginner sailors who learn to sail in the Hauraki Gulf. The passage is 40 nautical miles. We get becalmed, sail wing on wing, and enjoy a peaceful downwind passage. Once we arrive at Great Barrier Island, we anchor in Smokehouse Bay and enjoy a lovely swim as the sun sets on the Island.
