Each island we visit always has something unique about it. This week we are in Saba. This tiny island that sits in the elbow of the Eastern Caribbean chain is only 5.1 square miles big, but has the highest elevation in all of the Netherlands. After a year their borders were closed due to the pandemic, we got special permission to enter. We find out that we are the first boat to have visited since the shutdown, so we do get some looks while we explore the island. We set out to hike, Mount Scenery has grand views of the ocean and islands that surround it, if it clears up for you. This active volcano is the highest in all the Netherlands and is potentially dangerous, but this isn’t what makes Saba one of the most dangerous islands in all of the world. But instead it has been the target of more major name storms than anywhere else on earth. We get quite the workout while hiking, climbing, slipping, skipping all over the island. Pretty sure we walked the whole dang thing.
