54 Tacks in 10 Miles! | Sailing the Skinny Channels of the Inside Passage to Alaska - Ep. 14
In this one, we get off the boat to check out an abandoned fish cannery, and go for a hike to a lake to do some trout fishing. We face light winds as we claw our way up the rest of Princess Royal Channel, and do a bit of night sailing.
The sunny weather returns, and with it comes some strong NW winds. Never wanting to motor, we keep the sails up and tack up Grenville Channel, aka "The Ditch." Throughout the most skinny section of the channel, which is less than a 1/4 mile wide in some parts, we tack 54 times over a 10 mile section! Who said you can't sail up the Inside Passage?!
