Not so Scilly after all! | Sailing back to the stunning Isles of Scilly! | Cheated in a race! #6

After our failed attempt to enjoy the Isles of Scilly in a previous episode undeterred we sail our boat back in improved weather and start to show you the true beauty of this archipelago of islands in the Atlantic, just a few miles off the U.K. coast.

We set off before dawn to round the infamous headland of The Lizard and begin sailing further west than we’ve been before and find ourselves in a race with another sailboat and confused as to how he’s making such ground - it turns out however that someone is cheating!

We arrive after a great sail and spend the night at anchor but awake to thick fog. In order to make our way to our next anchorage we have to pick our way through shallow water littered with rocks using our chart plotter and radar.

We finally make it to the stunning anchorage of St Helen’s Pool and begin to relax. We catch lobster in our pot, enjoy a beach bbq with other cruisers and enjoy the beauty of these islands.
