Solo Sailing, Discovering Ternate, Sailing Indonesia (Learning By Doing Ep 94)

Ternate and neighbouring Tidore were the world's major producer of cloves upon which their rulers became among the wealthiest and most powerful sultans in the Indonesian region. Much of their wealth, however, was wasted fighting each other.
There is a road circling the coast of the island and I rented a motorbike and drove the 42km, stopping every now and then when I spotted something interesting.
The anchoring situation was pretty dicey and I never had much confidence that my boat would be there when I returned from land each day.
Nice place and glad I visited.
