Gale Warnings & Hidden Dangers; s5/e13
They say the sea is a harsh teacher, and today I almost learned a very expensive lesson. While filming the beautiful scenery of the Baltic Sea, I took my eyes off the charts for just a minute... and then I felt the bow go up.
In this episode, I’m taking the 32-ton Lady Liselot from Borger towards Germany. What started as a calm morning quickly escalated into a series of maritime challenges:
The Near-Miss: How a few seconds of distraction almost ended my journey on a sandbank.
Radar Ghosts: Spotting vessels on my screen that were invisible to the naked eye.
Research Vessel Encounter: A radio call from the 'Aurora' warning me to stay 500m clear of their underwater equipment.
Gale Warning: Why I had to abandon my plans to anchor and race for the safety of Laboe Marina.
Sailing solo means being your own captain, navigator, and engineer. Sometimes, it also means admitting when you messed up.

This channel follows a format: "Join Henk-Jan, whilst he cruises on motorvessel Lady Liselot through The Netherlands and a little further". That's it. This automatically means: no boat tour and no boat jobs. These subjects do not fit the format. So, I aim to give you a feel for what life's like aboard for me and hope you enjoy it, perhaps relate to it or maybe even learn something. But it's simply my story and the way I do things. Nothing more, nothing less.

I do make errors on purpose. Yes, I pronounce words wrong or mention things the wrong way. That's because a certain group of viewers love to correct me, and by making errors on purpose, they can correct me and feel good about themselves. So that way I offer both entertainment and 'a good feeling'. My way to create a better world.

The 4 camera's I use to produce my outdoor footage, are so called PTZ - P(an) T(ilt) Z(oom). Zoom, I only use on the rear camera, when I am underway. As you have seen I use the pan and tilt a lot. And in the dark they produce a great (short view) infrared image. I even can navigate in a marina at night on my cams.
Since they all are so called "IP camera's", each have an unique (hardwired) IP address (no DNS) in my network.
