THE GREATEST JOYS OF SAILING FULLTIME
In this episode, we show you the greatest joys of sailing fulltime. Being fulltime liveaboards can be stressful. As glamorous as sailing around the world sounds, you are always doing boat work on the sailboat.
We love sharing it with friends, swimming in a bikini, drinking a sunset beer, sailing in sunny weather, and general sailing shenanigans. Our fellow new Zealand sailing friend, fondly nicknamed 00Paul, sailed to Man O'War Bay on Waiheke Island to buddy boat with us for a week, and explore the island. At Waiheke, we visit Stony Batter and learn about the 1.2 kilometers of hand carved underground passages used to protect New Zealand in World War 2. We also review an Urbanaut Beer Blender, which was deeeeelicious!
The wind shifts, so we put up our sails and head to Shark Bay on Ponui Island, another island in the Hauraki Gulf. There, we make delicious food, drink more beer, and enjoy numerous epic sunsets.
On 00Paul's last day, Conor and 00Paul go on a wee dinghy adventure to grab one (or five) more bottles of wine to celebrate. We end that night with one of the best sunsets of our lives.
The next day, 00Paul heads back to Gulf Harbour Marina, and we prepare for our impending departure to Coromandel Peninsula.
We hope this video gives you a wee taste of why we go sailing despite all the risks of dragging anchor, tsunami warnings, storms, things breaking. This week was one of the most enjoyable we have had in all our sailing! Thank you 00Paul! We can't wait for you to join us again!

ABOUT US
Come join my wife and I as we learn to sail and have new sailor experiences on our new Whiting 40. We are a brand new sailing couple, and have fallen in love with the sport. Many sailing lessons have been learned so far as we learn how to become sailors. Our first mate, Pivo, keeps us out of trouble and is also learning along the way.
We are starting our voyage in New Zealand where we have been living for the last 4 years. But we are going zero to cruising because we're from the mountains of Colorado and have zero experience! Our first sail was with the sailing school, Great Escape, up in Opua, New Zealand (home the 2021 America's Cup). We hope our lessons from a beginner sailor will help you also as we set out on a multi-year sailing adventure around the world.
We hope to become a fulltime sailing / cruising family soon, as we love the sailing lifestyle so much! We love traveling, meeting new people, and seeing the world. We hope you come along for the adventure!
