We finally leave Panama enroute to Galapagos! It was a 9-day sail where we saw dolphins, turtles, sharks and lots of birds before finally arriving in San Cristobal. The birds ended up bending our wind vane and followed us the entire trip. We experienced 4-5 days of squally weather while crossing the ITCZ where we didn’t see the sun or moon due to cloud coverage from a giant system that just hovered over us. Our Genoa sail broke at the clue and we had to take it down while moving, luckily, we had spares that we could use, but it was pretty difficult getting it up with winds and the seas kicking. Our crew member, Don, during one of the night shifts accidentally kicked our helm seat into the Ocean. We celebrate crossing the equator with Full Send and go from Pollywog to Shellback with a ceremony presided over by Don who had crossed the equator before in the Canadian Navy.
