What is the THORNY PATH? Routing for Sail, Not Motoring ⛵ The Foster Journey
What is the Thorny Path? The Thorny Path is a route through the Bahamas near Turks and Caicos, then to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. It's a challenging route because of the trade winds, east-to-west currents, and lack of resources in the out islands of the Bahamas. Most sailors choose to motor this path for a few days, but we're trying to sail the thorny path in the middle of winter. Will this choice be a mistake?
