WE Visited the REAL Castaway Island in Fiji | Could We Survive? | Episode 32
Welcome back to another episode of WE|Sail.
There's something about these Fijian islands and survival. Survivor was filmed here. Castaway was filmed here. So when we discovered Tom Hanks' Castaway island was just a few miles away, we had to see it for ourselves—and honestly? Imagine if we could actually survive out here.
In this episode, we anchor in a downpour (of course, right as we're dropping the hook), Warren finally gets our dive compressor working, and we go on our first scuba dive since being back on the boat. Seven years ago, before we even bought this boat, getting our dive certifications was the first thing we did—so we could do exactly this.
Then we set off to explore the island where they filmed Castaway with Tom Hanks. We walk the beaches, hike to the summit, and talk about whether we could actually do it if we had to. Spoiler: we're really glad we have the boat.
These Fijian islands remind us so much of the Marquesas—our first landfall when we sailed across the South Pacific four years ago. Same dramatic volcanic landscapes and raw beauty, but with incredible coral reefs and pristine sand beaches. It's like getting the best of both worlds.
