After weaving between the many sandbanks and through channels you can only see on your chart, the tide starts to slow down...
This is our break down of how a canal boat can cross the open sea. Many narrowboats and widebeams have flat hulls not designed for open-water cruising, but with careful planning, it is entirely possible to make a safe seagoing passage.
Tip: Get familiar with nautical charts to avoid beaching on a sandbank...
