How we equipped our Beneteau Oceanis 40 to cross oceans
Welcome to the first video in our new Atlantic crossing series! Back in 2019, we crossed the Atlantic for the first time, from Europe to the Caribbean. This year, we crossed the Atlantic back to Europe, and we will be closing the loop at the end of the year with a 3rd transatlantic.
In this video, we share with you how we equipped Polar Seal, our Beneteau Oceanis 40 from 2007, for this particular type of sailing. We go through sails, rigging, self-steering, power systems, and the few details that have made life offshore a lot more comfortable.
Finally, I give my thoughts on "ocean-going blue water sailboats" and what we think about taking our boats for very long offshore passages.
