SDA255 Flying the Spinnaker
here’s something unsettling about seeing a standing wave across the cut you’re about to enter.
I start out exploring the shallow southern shoreline of Stocking Island on my paddleboard, soaking up the clear water before we head offshore.
Dave shows us how he rigs the spinnaker, and once it’s flying properly we get one of those beautiful sailing stretches that makes all the work worthwhile.
Rudder Cut changes the mood. The tide is running against us while the wind pushes with us, stacking the water into a standing wave across the entrance. The current and chop keep Dave busy as he works Dark Angel through the cut.
At the anchorage, a beautiful nurse shark is waiting below us.
