SDA257 Shark Patrol
Every time we walk down this beach, the same blacktip reef shark is making another pass through the shallows.
We spend a few days anchored at Big Farmers Cay, exploring beaches where the water is so clear it looks like an aquarium. Turtles, trumpetfish, barracuda and sharks move through the shallows just off the beach.
We take the paddleboards into the mangroves, including an area that is usually too shallow to reach, then walk farther in and ride the lazy river back out toward the entrance. On the other side, we explore the jagged reef shoreline, where goat and lizard trails cut through the rocks.
And every time we make our way back down the beach, the blacktip reef shark is still patrolling.
Exploring Big Farmers Cay in the Exumas, snorkeling with turtles, barracuda and sharks, paddleboarding the mangroves, and riding the lazy river through one of the clearest anchorages in the Bahamas.
