Sailing The GREAT BEAR RAINFOREST | Whales, Fog, & Empty Anchorages - Ep. 36
This episode picks up where we left off at the spectacular Goose Island on the outside edge of the Inside Passage. As Alex and I leave Goose Island, we are engulfed by a thick fog bank that sticks around for hours, leaving us with no visual references to speak of. While challenging, it was an interesting experience nonetheless! Fortunately, the fog lifted as we entered the narrow channels that lead into Pruth Bay and the Hakai Institute at the north end of Calvert Island.
We spent a peaceful night in Pruth Bay, then continued south for Schooner Retreat. On the way, we tacked up a narrow channel, had some wonderful and close encounters with humpback whales, caught another salmon, and all in all had a nice day.
