Ep. 40 Damned Brexit and the start of our Italian Residency Application
We are British which is going to cause us a few issues over the next 12months. We are currently sailing in the Mediterranean and whilst the UK was still part of the EU this was not a problem as we had free movement in 27 other countries around the Mediterranean and Northern European area. The UK makes it's final exit from the EU on 31st December 2020 and this means we are only able to stay in any one Schengan/European country for 90 days in a rolling 180 days. Because of this we have decided to take residency in Italy, which will enable us to stay in Italy for longer than 90 days and enable us to return to Italy after our summer season to Greece. In this episode we start that process as we know the bureaucracy in Italy can be a nightmare.
We also share with you part of our marina life living aboard Cordelia, which is so different to living on the hook in anchorages.

We are Steve and Annette. We have been together since we were 15years old and believe me that was many years ago. We have 3 children and 8 grandchildren.
Steve used to be a Marina Hoist Operator in charge of yacht lifting operations. He dealt with super yachts, the likes of the J Class yacht's and Oyster Super Yachts, a multitude of other large sailing vessels up to 200tonne as well as the smaller yachts like Cordelia.
Annette was an Operations Manager & Bookkeeper at a marketing company LCM https://www.lcm.co.uk and continues to part-time bookkeep whilst sailing.
We had been planning our cruising life for over 10years and finally at the age of 55 decided that the time was right for us to let the lines go and start living our dream. We love to see new places and enjoy the different cultures of each country. Our long-term plan is to just enjoy it whilst we can, see as many places as we can and share this dream with those you are interested in watching and joining us.
