EP. 45 Revealing our SECRET & our Heads makeover | SV Cordelia
We have just a few weeks left in our winter marina berth in Marina di Ragusa. As much as we have really enjoyed ourselves here in Ragusa with the great community the marina encourages, we can't wait to get back out sailing again.
Work continues on Cordelia and in this episode Steve shows how he has created a much more modern look in both our heads (bathrooms). What a difference it has made too.
We also visit Punta della Mola, which is situated on the south side of Siracusa Bay. It's a magnificent place where the Greeks cut out stone to create the stunning buildings in the old town of Ortigia, across the bay. The area is also full of old WW11 buildings that the germans built to guard against an attack by sea. It is also known for it's sea caves, where it is said that many statues and artefacts still remain from the Athenians & Greeks.
Sicily is full of markets in every town and we are taken to the main Ragusa Market, where fresh and locally grown fruit and veg is in abundance. Typical of mediterranean markets it also has several fish mongers and we try the local swordfish, which was delicious.
Italy has a traffic light system in place during the pandemic, red is no movement at all, amber is movement is allowed but restaurants are only allowed to do take-aways and yellow where we are allowed out and can eat in restaurants until 6pm, finally white is back to normal. At this time, March 2021 Sicily is bouncing between yellow and amber. During this time because we are allowed out we share a car hire with Kim & Jonathan from GrAce, which is great help in getting larger shops done and when we need to go to the local DIY store. Car hire is also very cheap averaging £4 a day, so well worth doing.
You will also see in this episode that we have been hiding a secret. We introduce and welcome our latest crew member, who will join us on our future adventures.

We are Steve and Annette. We have been together since we were 15years old and believe me that was many years ago. We have 3 children and 8 grandchildren. We are now a young middle-age couple who want sail the world as far as we can for as long as we can.
Steve used to be a Marina Hoist Operator in charge of yacht lifting operations. He dealt with super yachts, the likes of the J Class yacht's and Oyster Super Yachts, a multitude of other large sailing vessels up to 200tonne as well as the smaller yachts like Cordelia.
Annette was an Operations Manager & Bookkeeper at a marketing company LCM https://www.lcm.co.uk and continues to part-time bookkeep whilst sailing.
We had been planning our cruising life for over 10years and finally at the age of 55 decided that the time was right for us to let the lines go and start living our dream. We love to see new places and enjoy the different cultures of each country. Our long-term plan is to just enjoy it whilst we can, see as many places as we can and share this dream with those you are interested in watching and joining us.
