ATLANTIC CROSSING - we crossed an OCEAN with our DOG - Canaries to Cape Verde

On our 2nd leg of our ATLANTIC OCEAN CROSSING to the Caribbean we sail from the Canaries to Cape Verde with our Dog, Gus. It’s our longest trip so far and its amazing.

This passage will be the penultimate before our big 3 weeks crossing to the Caribbean and is the farthest we have sailed in one hit. We experience the biggest seas we’ve ever encountered and learn how to get into the rhythm of living life at sea.

Big Ocean Sailing - Wild Seas & Downwind Sailing- the Atlantic Crossing continues!

We experience big waves on the 2nd leg of our Atlantic Ocean Sailing journey to the Caribbean. We catch our first MahiMahi that turns into the most delicious fish ever. All this culminating in helping us learn how to live off grid.

We leave Gran Canaria on our next Atlantic leg to Cape Verde. We have to get into the swing of watches both day and night, whilst one of us is asleep the other is on watch. Although we decide that we can both cope with being with each other during the afternoon!

Meal times are helped when we catch our first MahiMahi, which we shallow fry in Garlic and breadcrumbs and is totally delicious.

We read, have long endless chats, bake cakes, make minimal sail changes, catch fish and generally learn to take things even easier whilst on this passage.

We are over 8 days at sea, where the only boat we see in all that time is a rowing boat, which we are not entirely sure truly existed.

Finally we see land and our first glimpse of Cape Verde comes into view.

We could easily get used to this ocean sailing.
