Seasickness, compounded by a potentially fatal complication, compelled an abrupt emergency diversion which itself triggered an accident for Julia where she broke her foot. As it turns out, the island we made after battling the wind and the waves for ten hours hold a special significance and provided a unique opportunity to celebrate my mother. Within minutes of docking, I received the heartbreaking news of my beloved Border Collie, Skylie's passing. Skylie, after whom my hydrovane was named, breathed her last breath while I, along with Tyler and Julia, aboard Sailing Vessell Ramona, battled against the wind.

This episode is dedicated to my mother, whose Memorial service I couldn't attend last year, and Skylie.
