SDA190 Smooth Sailing, Dirty Secrets
In this episode of Sailing Dark Angel, we sail from Long Island to Great Exuma in perfect spinnaker conditions. It’s a steady breeze and sunshine kind of day, seven and a half hours of easy miles and peaceful motion. But as always, smooth sailing comes with a catch. The hull’s looking rough again, and before long, we’re back in the water scraping slime and hunting barnacles. Yep... we really need a bottom job.
*in real time, we've been struck directly by lightning. All of our navigation systems, running, navigation, anchoring and work lights and much of our freezer capacity is badly damaged, as well as keel damage. Lightning exit or bottom strike while we were dragging at over 62 knots, we're not sure.
