SDA201 Travel Days Still Bring Adventure: Sailing & Diving the Raggeds
Travel days in the Raggeds mean more than just sailing — every stop brought us coral dives, shoreline exploring, and big underwater surprises. 💙
What’s your favorite balance of travel vs exploring when you’re on the move?
In this episode of Sailing Dark Angel, we head for Buenavista Cay, where an anchor check suddenly becomes a coral dive. Then it’s on to Flamingo Cay, where a big barracuda crashes my anchor check before we set off to explore the shoreline by dinghy and dive its vibrant coral. Even on travel days, adventure finds us.
⚠️ Lightning Strike Update
In real time, we were directly struck by lightning. Navigation systems, running lights, anchor lights, work lights, a large freezer, and even our keel were damaged. We're still facing VAT, duty, exchange rates, customs brokerage, and a costly haul-out for keel repairs in the Dominican Republic.
