SDA226 A Great Barracuda Wouldn’t Back Down
After settling into Great Inagua, we expected a quiet reset.
Instead, we found ourselves pushed off a reef by the most aggressive Great Barracuda we’ve ever encountered.
In this episode of Sailing Dark Angel we settle into Mathew Town, Great Inagua, head ashore for provisions and check on fuel and parts, then debate whether to leave unprepared or stay without shelter. Dolphins visit before we snorkel the reef and are pushed off by the most aggressive Great Barracuda we’ve ever encountered.
Great Inagua is remote, exposed, and beautiful, but snorkeling a Bahamian reef doesn’t always go the way you expect. This was our most intense barracuda encounter to date, and it left us questioning what we could have done differently. Was swimming away the wrong move? In this episode we explore life at anchor in Mathew Town, the reality of weather window decisions in the Bahamas, and a reef encounter we won’t forget.
⚠️ The lightning strike changed everything on Dark Angel, and we’re still rebuilding piece by piece. If you’d like to support the recovery, our GoFundMe is here:
