Sailing to Makemo and Learning to Navigate the Tuamotus| Episode 174

On this weeks episode we set sail from one of the most beautiful beaches we have ever seen and navigate our sailboat through the inner atoll, sailing around coral heads so that we can make it to the pass and out of the lagoon before sunset. After navigating the pass on an outgoing tide and current, we put the sails back up and have a fantastic sail to our next atoll, called Makemo. Even though we did a lot of prior research and planning to get the timing correct, we have a pretty hair raising experience going in to this island atoll because we have to fight a very strong outgoing current. It all worked out and we found ourselves at another very beautiful anchorage just off the little islands village. We spend several days exploring town, as well as the extremely beautiful surrounding reefs.
