From Perfect Passage to Chaos - Squall Out Of The Darkness - S5 Episode 141

Our passage west across the bottom of Sulawesi in Indonesia began beautifully with some great downwind sailing, a peaceful anchorage and a pleasant night passage. That was until our OH CRAP moment. A violent squall appeared out of nowhere in the pre-dawn darkness, smashing our boat from the complete opposite wind direction, tearing our mainsail free of the boom and allowing it to flap crazily amongst the rigging. All right in the middle of a busy shipping lane. In treacherous conditions on deck, it had to be secured fast before it tore itself to pieces. - Not fun!
