Sailing to Belitung, Indonesian’s Secret Holiday Playground- S6 Ep 152

We first sailed to the gorgeous island of Belitung 13 years ago and very fondly remembered its stunning stacks of enormous granite boulders bordering crystal clear turquoise waters lapping glistening white sand beaches. This gorgeous place was the holiday hotspot Indonesian’s absolutely loved for very good reasons. Despite tourism being a huge business for the island, we found very few western visitors here. Belitung had largely flown under the radar for overseas travellers. Without the crowds and inflated prices international tourism brings, it was just the way the Indonesian tourists liked it and, quite frankly, so did we.
Now dropping anchor here once again, we were very keen to see if it was still the paradise we remembered or had the passing of time brought crowds, Balinese style over development and spoiled it.
