How I Ended Up In A Remote Island Hospital

We sailed across the Pacific Ocean unscathed for 24 days, but let Nikki wander into the jungle for one day on a remote island and we land ourselves in the hospital. But, you’ll never believe what did it.

We planned to leave Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas and sail deeper into French Polynesia...but plans always change on a sailboat! Today it's because Nikki's breaking out in a horrible rash. We thought she could ignore it but now her allergic reaction is getting too bad to dismiss.

So join us as we explore a remote island hospital, pharmacy and get to know the costs of medical care in French Polynesia. If you can make it to the last third of the video we take a short walkabout after leaving the Pharmacy. It's a great insight to the kind people, wild foods and the cutest animals that we've found here in Nuku Hiva, Marquesas.
