Sailing 3,000 Miles Across the Pacific on a 33ft Sailboat
“A ship in harbour is safe — but that’s not what ships are built for.”
In May 2025, after months of preparation, we left Baja, Mexico, aboard our 33ft sailboat, setting out on our first true offshore passage that took us nearly 3,000 nautical miles to Hawaii.
The early days tested us: light winds, rising seas, and long hours aboard made every task a challenge. But amid the fatigue came moments of pure magic — dolphins alongside the boat, calm sunsets, and the rhythm of life at sea settling in.
After 22 days, we spotted the Big Island on the horizon and dropped anchor in Hilo. The joy, the challenges, and the countless unforgettable experiences made it a life-changing journey neither of us will ever forget.
Next, we explore Hilo and sail through the Hawaiian Islands toward Honolulu, preparing Sea Dream of Clyde for our next adventure: Alaska.
