Dodging Coral Bommies While Sailing Through Atolls in French Polynesia | Episode 214
After a wonderful 500 nautical mile sail we make landfall at the beautiful atoll island of Makemo... at night! Entering an atoll at night is not advised, but we did it anyways.
It's always a struggle to get the anchor set at night but we are happy to have arrived and the next morning we dive in the water first thing to make sure the chain and anchor are all set with the scattered bommies all over.
Then we show our family the amazing coral patches near the anchorage. We close out this episode with a sail through the inner lagoon and to a secluded beach we discovered the year before!
